About the Restaurant
The "Guen" in Guenpin is the same as the Gen in words like Genmyou and Yuugen, meaning mystery or subtle grace. It's meaning is to point out the deeply fundemantal characteristics in things.
Being able to enjoy something as seemingly expensive as torafugu puffer fish at such a reasonable price is something that only a restaurant specializing in it could do.
Puffer fish is low in calories and fat, high in protein, abundant in collagen and overflowing with things that are good for beauty.
There are 3 types of courses: Guen ¥4,298 (tax included), Daigo ¥5,724 (tax included), and Tenraku ¥6,588 (tax included). Very reasonable!
After a plate of parboiled Tessa (sashimi) we tried a Tecchiri (hotpot). To finish we added rice to the hotpot to make a porridge.
Naturally, the puffer fish was great, and the vegetable broth made for a perfect rice porridge♪
Next time, some grilled puffer fish with sake... might be nice♪ I'm curious about Puffer fish collagen jelly too! Puffer fish at such a reasonable price makes it easy to just leisurly pop in whenever we want!
Where to Have Fun Nearby
Before eating, how about a walk around Hamarikyu Gardens? Feel the history of 300 year old pine trees before walking across the Otsutai-bashi bridge to the Tea Room in the middle to enjoy some Maccha tea. Times like that where you can envelope yourself in nature and let your mind wander to Tokyo's past are nice♪
